The second batch of training of midwifery tutors (TOT) in "Client Centered Family Planning Services" (CCFPS) started on March 08, 2011.

Training of CMWs Tutors on Provision of Client Centered Family Planning Services (Advance) held from February 01 to 10, 2011 at Islamabad.

Success Stories

Farzana Sarki: A CMW-Handled 237 Deliveries without a single Mortality
It was the first week of December 2008 when Farzana Sarki was deployed in her village Garrhi Hassan as a Community Midwife. She completed 18 months training at the CMW School Jacobabad in the first batch. Sarki was a brilliant student in her class and was also a position holder in the final examination. With a dream to serve her community, through assistance of districthealth management, she found space in a redundant residential quarter of the Rural Health Centre (RHC) which is located in the centre of her village.

The quarter was refurbished for her and was provided with essential equipment, medicines and supplies required for safe birth attendance. With this need based support, Farzana could visit house to house for providing ante natal care and delivery services and also could cater the referral from surrounding communities at her residence. Starting in December 2008, by end of January 2010, Farzana had provided significant number of MNCH services to her community.
For this purpose, she went house to house, introduced herself and developed a rapport with her community through her visits. Besides this, she also developed close linkages with the Lady Health Workers of the area for referrals. She has conducted 237 normal deliveries without any maternal deaths since December, 2008. Her services delivery glimpses are as under:

These details show that CMWs is a key intervention of the National MNCH Program which would be instrumental in expediting the progress of averting maternal deaths due to preventable causes and expedite Pakistan's progress towards achieving MDGs..
